Their team-ups usually happen because trouble finds them both at once. A helmeted menace called the Orb, or a schemer like the Trapster, drags Spider-Man into the strange, spooky corner of the Marvel world where Ghost Rider lives. Peter is way out of his depth against curses and hellfire, but his quick thinking and Ghost Rider's raw power make a surprisingly good match.
What holds the partnership together is a shared sense of doing the right thing. Johnny Blaze carries a heavy burden and would rather work alone, but he trusts Spider-Man's good heart. Spider-Man, for his part, learns to look past the scary skull and see the decent man underneath. They part ways as friends, even if the Rider would never say so out loud.

How they met
Spider-Man and Ghost Rider first met in Marvel Team-Up #15 (1973), when Peter Parker's path crossed the flaming-skulled stunt rider Johnny Blaze during a battle with the helmeted villain called the Orb. Wary of each other at first — one a friendly neighborhood hero, the other a frightening figure wrapped in fire — they quickly realized they were on the same side, and an unlikely partnership was born.

Ghost Rider remains one of Marvel's enduring supernatural heroes, with Johnny Blaze continuing to ride in his own titles and appearing across the wider Marvel Universe. Who Is Ghost Rider?
Johnny Blaze was a motorcycle stunt rider who made a desperate bargain to save someone he loved. The deal went wrong, and Johnny was bound to a fiery spirit of vengeance. Now, when evil is near, he transforms into the Ghost Rider — a skeleton wreathed in flame who rides a blazing motorcycle and hunts down the wicked.
As Ghost Rider, Johnny commands hellfire, wields a mystic chain, and can look into a villain's soul with his famous Penance Stare, forcing them to feel every ounce of pain they've caused. Beneath the terrifying appearance, Johnny is a good man trying to control a power he never wanted — and to protect the innocent along the way.
